The pet-friendly raft and e-bike adventure on the Russian River since 2001.

Visit WebsiteThe pet-friendly self-guided float on the Russian River — 8.5 miles of gentle current through redwoods and swimming holes, the same SOAR Inflatable rafts professional Class IV-V guides use, and a free shuttle back at the end. Bring the dog.
Russian River Adventures was founded in 2001 by Larry Laba — the same Larry Laba who has designed SOAR Inflatable Canoes since 1993, the inflatable raft brand used by professional river guides nationwide. The Healdsburg shop puts those SOAR rafts in the hands of weekend visitors on the Middle Reach of the Russian River, an 8.5-mile self-guided float that runs from the launch point downriver through swimming holes, sandy beaches, and gentle riffles. Pet-friendly is the editorial differentiator: thousands of dogs since 2003 have made the trip with their humans, and the SOAR rafts are stable enough that the dogs are comfortable.
The standard trip is the self-guided 8.5-mile float — free shuttle back from the takeout point — with the company's "no sweat" easy riding promise: a slow-current river, no whitewater, and the casual midweek pace of summer wine country. Beyond the rafts, Russian River Adventures runs guided e-bike tours of Healdsburg, Windsor, and Geyserville, building wine country routes that combine cycling with winery tasting room visits. The trust signals here are the SOAR brand provenance (these are the same rafts professional Class IV-V guides use), Larry Laba's two-decade-plus operating history at the Healdsburg shop, and the family-owned, owner-operator culture that defines the staff at the Healdsburg Avenue location.

Larry Laba is the founder of Russian River Adventures and the inventor of the SOAR inflatable canoe — "Somewhere On A River" — which he began building in 1993 and has since sold by the thousands worldwide. A self-described river rat of more than forty years, he moved to Healdsburg in 1998, drawn to a quiet, road-free stretch of the Russian River below town, and launched Russian River Adventures in 2000 to float paddlers down it. Between 2005 and 2019 he also ran small-group adventure trips across Central and South America. A longtime backer of Russian Riverkeeper — whose founder once called him "the heart of the river" — he sold the SOAR manufacturing business in 2024 but still leads the Healdsburg trips himself.
