LocaleTerroir (we, us, or our) respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy describes what personal information we collect, how we use it, who we share it with, and what choices you have. It applies to localeterroir.com and related services (the Site).
1.1 Information you provide directly: the contact form, newsletter sign-up, or an inquiry (name, email, message); your business's pages (business name, contact names, email, phone, photographs, and the names and roles of any team members you choose to feature); sharing a route (the email addresses you enter, used only to send that route); and email correspondence. 1.2 Information collected automatically: IP address and approximate location; browser, operating system, and device identifiers; pages visited, referring URLs, and timestamps; and cookies and similar technologies. 1.3 Information from public sources: to feature a business and let it know about its pages, we use business contact details that the business publishes, such as on its website. 1.4 Information from service providers: analytics and email delivery services we use to operate the Site.
We use your information to provide, operate, and improve the Site; respond to inquiries; publish the photographs and details businesses send us, with their editorial; let businesses we feature know about their pages and ask them to review them; send routes you choose to share; send newsletters where you have signed up (unsubscribe anytime); analyze how the Site is used; detect and prevent fraud and abuse; and comply with legal obligations.
We do not sell or share your personal information for advertising. We share it only with: service providers who help operate the Site (hosting, maps, analytics, email), who are bound to protect it; authorities or legal parties when required by law, subpoena, or court order, or to protect rights; and successors in a merger, acquisition, or asset sale, in which case you will be notified. Content a business sends us for publication (photographs, names and roles of featured team members, descriptions) is made public on the Site by design.
Restaurant selections and recommendations from neighbors are kept confidential. We publish a neighbor's name only with their permission, and never publish how an individual voted.
4.1 California residents (CCPA/CPRA): you have the right to know what personal information we collect, use, disclose, and sell (we do not sell); to request a copy; to request correction; to request deletion, subject to legal exceptions; to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising (we do neither); to limit the use of sensitive personal information; and to be free from retaliation for exercising these rights. To exercise any of these, email contact@localeterroir.com with the subject line Privacy Request; we will respond within 45 days. 4.2 Other jurisdictions: if you reside elsewhere, similar rights may apply; contact us to exercise them.
The Site uses cookies and similar technologies to operate, remember your preferences, and understand usage: essential cookies (login, form submission); analytics cookies; and preference cookies. You can control cookies through your browser settings; disabling some may affect functionality.
We use commercially reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect personal information. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
We keep personal information only as long as needed for the purposes described, or as required by law. We do not publish personal contact details, such as the names, emails and phone numbers of the people we write to; we publish each featured business's public information. The team members we feature (owners, chefs, managers and others) appear by name, role and photo. When we let a business know about its pages, it has seven days to review and change its featured team members, and it can ask for changes at any time after that. We honor those requests, and any request to remove the photographs and details a business sent us or its contact details, within 30 days, unless retention is legally required. Email addresses entered to share a route are used to send that route and are not added to any mailing list; as with any email, a copy of each message we send is kept in our sent mail.
The Site is not directed to children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information. If you believe a child has provided information, contact us and we will delete it.
The Site is operated from the United States. If you access it from outside the U.S., your information is transferred to, stored, and processed in the U.S., which may have different data-protection laws than your jurisdiction.
We may update this Privacy Policy. Material changes will be posted with a new Last updated date.
