Sebastopol Certified Farmers' Market

Every Sunday of the year, rain or shine, Sebastopol's farmers' market fills the town plaza on Weeks Way from 9am to 1:30pm. It is one of West County's anchors: growers with seasonal produce, fruit, eggs and honey share the plaza with bakers, cheesemakers, fishmongers, spice sellers and preserve makers, plus prepared food for breakfast or lunch. Flowers, nursery plants, candles, skincare and jewelry fill out the rows. As a certified market, the farmers at the produce stalls sell what they grow.

Sebastopol's market is less a shopping trip than a Sunday ritual. The town turns out, the plaza becomes a meeting place, and the morning stretches into lunch. The easygoing mood that runs through the whole town is at its most generous here, and visitors are folded in without ceremony.

Go early for the best of the fruit, then slow down. It pairs naturally with a West County weekend: the orchards and redwoods toward Occidental, the coast beyond, and the cool-climate wineries of the Sebastopol Hills in between.
