dine in glen ellen
Dine in Glen Ellen, a village on Sonoma Creek below Sonoma Mountain, small enough to walk, with vineyards climbing the slopes above it. These are the tables the village keeps for itself, chosen by the people who live and work here.
Ari Weiswasser and Erinn Benziger-Weiswasser's Arnold Drive cottage seats fewer than fifty around a wood-burning oven running near 650 degrees. Produce from the family's Glentucky Family Farm feeds a menu of cast-iron quick bread, charred vegetables like sugar snap peas, seasonal pizzas, brick chicken and whole roasted branzino, with house-made ice cream to finish. Michelin Bib Gourmand; dinner nightly.

Photographs and memorabilia of Jack London and old Glen Ellen cover the walls of this roadhouse saloon, where locals and travelers share an antique oak bar. The kitchen sends out unfussy wine country comfort food at lunch and dinner until 9, and a garden patio sits beside the creek. The bar stays open until midnight on Fridays and Saturdays.

Lauren Kershner turned the old Pagani family winery in Jack London Village into Songbird Parlour, a Victorian-style salon of green paneling, velvet sofas and a piano. Executive chef Miller McRae cooks hyper-local plates to share, with hot honey fried chicken on Sundays, and nightly social hours introduce one Sonoma Valley winemaker at a time.
