Bricoleur Vineyards opened in 2020 on a 40-acre Russian River Valley estate just outside downtown Windsor, the work of Sonoma natives Mark and Elizabeth Hanson. Their daughter, founder Sarah Hanson Citron, is the great-great-granddaughter of Pietro Carlo Rossi, one of the pioneers of nineteenth-century California winemaking — a lineage that runs quietly through the property's deliberate philosophy. The estate is at once a working winery (Cary Gott handles winemaking), a garden-driven culinary program, and an overnight retreat. The name itself is French for someone who builds without a fixed plan, cobbling something whole together along the way.

Specialty Offerings

The Vineyard Residence is a 2,750-square-foot, four-bedroom, three-and-a-half-bath house designed to sleep up to eight in comfort. It can be reserved entirely or by the room, and stays include the estate's signature Rooted experience — a six-course wine-and-food pairing crafted by the winemaking and culinary teams. Beyond the house itself, guests have the property: a rose garden, fruit orchards, an olive grove, a stocked pond, bocce courts, and a Pavilion lawn. Modernized interiors with vaulted ceilings open onto a wraparound deck with vineyard and Mt. St. Helena views; the kitchen and indoor-outdoor living spaces are designed for groups gathering at length. Dog-friendly, EV charging on-site, and a concierge available throughout the stay.

Hotel Highlight

Sarah Hanson Citron is the founder of Bricoleur Vineyards, which she and her parents Mark and Elizabeth Hanson opened in 2020. She is the great-great-granddaughter of Pietro Carlo Rossi, a nineteenth-century California winemaking pioneer, and the family's roots in Sonoma run deep. Under her direction Bricoleur has become known equally for its wines, its garden-driven culinary program, and its handful of vineyard accommodations.

Bricoleur's overnight stays occupy two private residences on the estate — a Vineyard House and a larger Estate Villa — set among the vines, olive groves, and a working honey farm. Guests have the run of the grounds after the tasting room closes: the pond, the bocce courts, the pavilion lawn. The estate stays a working farm, and the residences let visitors live inside that rhythm rather than beside it.
