Curated French and California list; central cocktail program; full bar.

Bijou is chef Stéphane Saint Louis's French-California bistro at 190 Kentucky Street in downtown Petaluma, opened on June 13, 2025 in the space that once held Whisper Sisters and then Easy Rider. Saint Louis runs it with his co-chef and business partner, Steven Vargas, and his wife, Marta, who manages the restaurant, the same team behind the tasting-menu restaurant Table Culture Provisions a few blocks away, which the Michelin Guide added to its California selection in 2025. The name means jewel in French, and the format is deliberately different: bistronomy, French technique applied to Sonoma County's seasonal farms, in a room about three times the size of its sibling, at a gentler price. A young kitchen, it is already finding its following among regulars.

Menu Highlights
Trout Dip
avocado, ravigote, house chips
Croque Monsieur
Black Forest ham, Gruyère, black truffle
Boeuf en Croûte
Beef Wellington, jus, roasted carrots
Salted Cod Brandade Croquette
garlic scapes, shishito lemon aioli
Côte de Porc
bone-in chop, butternut squash ragout
Parker House Rolls
house-baked, cultured butter

The menu changes often as Saint Louis works through ideas, so the daily fish, perhaps a white sea bass, is worth asking about first. Steak frites, a duck caramelle pasta and diver scallops with tobiko have all appeared among the mains, with Miyagi oysters and house-made potato chips with onion dip to start. Desserts stay in the French register, from a praline millefeuille to a chocolate au lait. The dining room is light and neutral around a chic full bar, where the French-inspired cocktail list includes a rye-based Boulevardier and the Golden Hour, made with tequila, amaretto, carrot juice and horchata. The wine list pairs French and California bottles. Happy hour opens the evening at 4, dinner follows at 5, and on Friday and Saturday the bar stays open late.
