Erika and Chad Harris, the diner-minded couple from Lou's Luncheonette, turned to pizza here: wood-fired pies, ricotta meatballs, burrata and whipped ricotta with hot honey, plus soups, salads and pastas. The original bar and dance floor still host bands, the patio beer garden fills with families, and happy hour runs daily from 3 to 5.

Buck's Place fills a roadhouse on Grove Street in El Verano, a few minutes west of the Sonoma Plaza, in a building that dates to about 1906. Over the decades it has housed Little Switzerland, whose dining room was a popular polka floor, and later the Reel Fish House and Grille. Erika and Chad Harris, who also run Lou's Luncheonette and Jack's Filling Station on Fremont Drive and were behind the much-missed Fremont Diner, opened it quietly just before Thanksgiving 2023. They kept the bones that matter: the original bar, the stage and the dance floor, where tables still fold away when the music starts. The result is a casual, family-friendly room under a vintage neon sign, carrying the building's long tradition of music and dancing forward.

Erika Harris co-owns Buck's Place with Chad Harris; the pair also run Lou's Luncheonette and Jack's Filling Station on Fremont Drive and were behind the former Fremont Diner. Buck's, which they opened in late 2023, is their first turn toward Italian cooking, built around the wood-fired pizza they had long wanted to make.

Chad Harris co-owns Buck's Place with Erika Harris, bringing the restaurateur's instincts that made the Fremont Diner a wine country fixture. At Buck's the focus is pizza and pasta, in a roadhouse whose original bar, stage and dance floor keep its music and beer garden alive.
