A family-run trattoria in Vintners Square on the west side of Santa Rosa, with a wood-fired oven at its center. Start with roasted zucchini flowers or Mama Rosa's meatballs, then Neapolitan-style pies such as the Angelo with prosciutto and Calabrian chilies, veal ossobucco ravioli or bolognese gnocchi. A short Italian-leaning wine list, a patio and occasional live music.

Cibo Rustico is a family-run, wood-fired Italian pizzeria in Vintners Square, the small shopping center off Cleveland Avenue on Santa Rosa's west side. It is a casual neighborhood trattoria with indoor seating, a patio for warm days and a rustic mood that leans Southern Italian. The kitchen makes its sauces and meatballs in house and builds the menu around the wood-fired oven: pizzas first, then pastas and antipasti. It is a regular participant in Sonoma County Restaurant Week and, on some evenings, a stage for live music, which suits a room where families, couples and groups of friends settle in for a long meal. For many on the west side, it is the dependable answer to the question of where to go for pizza and a glass of wine.

Sample profile: Cibo Rustico Pizzeria will introduce the person who leads its kitchen here.

Ray D'Argenzio and his family own Cibo Rustico Pizzeria, which they opened in Vintners Square across from their D'Argenzio Winery tasting room. He co-founded the Santa Rosa winery in 1997 with Ricci D'Argenzio, and the winery supplies some of the pizzeria's pours of local varietals, beside an Italian-leaning list and local craft beer.
