Charlie Palmer's dining room across from the Healdsburg Plaza pours only Sonoma County wine, with a sommelier on hand to point toward an unfamiliar local producer. Executive chef Shane McAnelly cooks from the week's farm deliveries, with handmade pasta throughout: a 50-layer lasagna, saffron linguine, Manila clam chowder. Thursdays bring the relaxed Sonoma Neighbor Menu. Dinner Wednesday through Sunday.

Dry Creek Kitchen is chef Charlie Palmer's Healdsburg restaurant, set inside Hotel Healdsburg on Healdsburg Avenue, across from the town Plaza. It opened in 2001, among the first serious dining rooms in a town that has since become one of Wine Country's great places to eat, and it celebrates its 25th anniversary in November 2026. The room is polished and calm, a hotel restaurant that draws as many locals as hotel guests. Executive chef Shane McAnelly now leads the kitchen and writes its tasting menus. The wine list is the restaurant's other identity: more than 600 labels, every one from Sonoma County, with more than twenty local wines poured by the glass. Palmer's name and that all-Sonoma cellar still bring people to Healdsburg just for dinner here.

Jon Macklem joined Dry Creek Kitchen at Hotel Healdsburg as wine director in 2023 and was promoted the following year to run the floor as well as the cellar. He discovered wine at Matsuhisa in Denver and later served as assistant beverage director at Boulder's Flagstaff House, and he keeps the list's emphasis on Sonoma County.
