Exposed brick, wicker pendants and tall-backed booths frame an open kitchen where chef Rodrigo Mendoza cooks over a wood fire on Sebastopol's South Main Street. Plates are sized for sharing: fire-roasted beets with caramelized yogurt, Dungeness crab ravioli, whole grilled branzino, Angus hanger steak. Happy hour Wednesday through Sunday brings oysters; the chef's counter faces the fire.

Goldfinch opened in late May 2023 on South Main Street in downtown Sebastopol, in the space K&L Bistro filled for years until its owners closed it in 2022. It is part of the Livery on Main project, and co-owner Nick Izzarelli and his partners gave the old room a fresh face: open wicker pendant lights, tall-backed booths, the original exposed brick, and a large open kitchen with counter seating. Executive chef Rodrigo Mendoza, formerly of Willi's Seafood and Charro Negro, cooks Northern California food around an open wood fire, with a menu of small and large plates meant for sharing and drawn from Sonoma County farms. It is still a young room, and it has already become a favorite for date night in town.

Rodrigo Mendoza leads the kitchen at Goldfinch in downtown Sebastopol, which opened in 2023 in the former K&L Bistro space. Previously at Willi's Seafood and Charro Negro, he cooks over an open wood fire and shapes a menu of shareable small and large plates rooted in Sonoma County sourcing, from fire-roasted beets to Dungeness crab ravioli.

Nick Izzarelli opened Goldfinch on South Main Street in Sebastopol in 2023 with a small group of partners. A restaurant industry veteran who previously worked with Stark Reality Restaurants, he helped build the room around local sourcing and open-fire cooking, with a chef's counter set right in front of the fire.
