Vineyard rows and gardens surround this Vinarosa Resort dining room north of Santa Rosa, where executive chef Forest Kellogg cooks a farm-to-table menu. Weekday breakfast and lunch, weekend brunch and nightly dinner run from Sonoma French toast and chilaquiles verdes to Hog Island oysters and a flat iron steak with chimichurri. Russian River Valley wines lead the list.

John Ash & Co. is one of the founding restaurants of the modern Sonoma County dining identity, opened in 1980 by chef John Ash and now operating inside Vinarosa Resort & Spa (the 2025 rebrand of Vintners Resort) north of Santa Rosa. The dining room sits among the property's vineyards and gardens, and the setting (vineyard-side, with views of the working agricultural landscape) is as much a part of the experience as the menu itself. John Ash was among the first chefs in California to articulate "Wine Country cuisine" as a coherent identity, and the resort's restaurant remains anchored in that founding vision more than four decades later.

Forest Kellogg leads the farm-to-table kitchen at John Ash & Co. at Vinarosa Resort & Spa. A graduate of the Culinary Arts program at Santa Rosa Junior College, he cooked at Miller Union in Atlanta, Kendall-Jackson Wine Estate & Gardens, Timber Cove Resort and Chalkboard in Healdsburg, and was estate chef at J Vineyards & Winery.

Michael Collins leads Vinarosa Resort & Spa, the Ensemble Hospitality property north of Santa Rosa that is home to John Ash & Co. He oversaw the resort's 2025 debut under its new name, formerly Vintners Resort, around what he calls a very specific vision of wine country elegance.
