MacArthur Place's restaurant fills the hotel's old barn with terra-cotta and soft neutrals, and its garden patio is the seat on a fine day. California-coastal cooking with a Mediterranean accent uses the property's Chef's Garden: crispy hashbrowns and eggs Benedict at breakfast, then seared ahi, the catch of the day and lemon-ricotta ravioli. Dinner Wednesday through Sunday.

Layla is the restaurant at MacArthur Place, the boutique hotel and spa set on landscaped grounds a few blocks from Sonoma's Plaza. It opened in May 2019 in the space that once held Saddles, the property's cowboy-themed steakhouse, and its design reflects the original barn structure: an open, communal room finished in terra-cotta, white and soft neutrals. The cooking is seasonal and California-coastal in spirit, with a Mediterranean accent, built on organic, sustainable and locally sourced ingredients, and many of the garnishes come from the property's own Chef's Garden. Because it serves breakfast, lunch and dinner, Layla is as much a part of the hotel's daily rhythm as it is a dinner table for the town, and on a fine day the flower-framed patio in the hotel garden is the place to sit.

Eric Piacentine leads the kitchens of MacArthur Place, including Layla, The Bar, The Porch, events and in-room dining. Trained at the Florida Culinary Institute, he cooked at The Sea Ranch Lodge, Big Sur Bakery and Bernardus Lodge before coming to Sonoma, and his menus showcase produce from local farms and the hotel's own Chef's Garden.

Justin Wilson has led MacArthur Place, the Sonoma hotel that is home to Layla, since February 2024. He brings more than thirty years in hospitality, including director of operations at the Fairmont Sonoma Mission Inn & Spa and food and beverage director at Sanctuary Camelback Mountain and Rancho Valencia, where he launched the Nirvana Food & Wine Festival.
