Jazmine Lalicker's Luma faces the Petaluma River near East Washington Street, with a patio over the water. Shareable starters such as calamari and spicy jumbo prawns give way after 4:30 to a fire-roasted half chicken, pork chop or Wagyu steak, with plenty for vegans and vegetarians. Cocktails and mocktails get equal care.

Luma Bar & Eatery opened in December 2022 on the Petaluma riverfront at the foot of East Washington Street, in the space that long held Dempsey's. Owner Jazmine Lalicker, also a co-owner of The Shuckery, built it as a plant-forward restaurant and cocktail bar with a clear sustainability mission and a commitment to local sourcing. The opening menu was vegetarian by default, with proteins offered as add-ons; within months the kitchen broadened into California-Mediterranean cooking with larger meat and fish plates, while keeping a deep bench of vegan and vegetarian dishes. That balance is the point: a table of omnivores, vegetarians and vegans can all order well here. It is a young kitchen, not yet five years old, and already finding its following along the river.

Travis Day, a chef and butcher, took over Petaluma's Thistle Meats in 2017 and owned the shop before leading the kitchen at Luma Bar & Eatery on the Petaluma riverfront from its December 2022 opening. His California-Mediterranean menu keeps a deep bench of vegetarian and vegan plates alongside meat and fish.

Jazmine Lalicker opened Luma Bar & Eatery on the Petaluma riverfront in December 2022 and is also a co-owner of The Shuckery. She built Luma around a plant-forward, sustainability-first vision with a serious cocktail program, and her hands-on, welcoming presence has made the riverfront room a community gathering place.
