Salt and Stone serves steaks, seafood and California standards along Highway 12 in Kenwood, with a vineyard-side patio. Executive chef Enrique Alcaraz's menu runs from grilled octopus, steak tartare and ahi poke to steaks up to bone-in cuts with a table-side salt sampler. Monday to Wednesday Bistro Nights bring three courses for $35, and local wines come by the carafe.

Salt and Stone is a roadhouse on Highway 12 in Kenwood, on a site that has fed Sonoma Valley travelers since 1987, for many years as Kenwood Restaurant. David and Diane LaMonica, formerly of Cafe Beaujolais in Mendocino, opened Salt and Stone here in December 2017; today it is owned by Todd Lake, with executive chef Enrique Alcaraz in the kitchen. The contemporary gray-and-ivory dining room holds a piece of California history: a plaster mural rescued from San Francisco's Poodle Dog restaurant, which survived the 1906 earthquake. The format is steaks, seafood and California classics in a relaxed roadhouse register. On warm days the patio beside the vineyards is the place to sit, with the valley light turning gold toward evening.

Todd Lake owns Salt & Stone, the steak, seafood and oyster bar restaurant on Highway 12 in Kenwood, where patio tables look out over the Sonoma Valley vineyards. He credits the ever-changing view with lifting the hospitality his team offers guests, and the restaurant's wine list holds a Wine Spectator Award of Excellence.
