Nepal-born owner Nima Sherpa, who once worked treks on Mount Everest, opened Sonoma Grille on West Napa Street in 2015. Chef Saul Razo's menu covers BBQ oysters, tuna tartare, saffron pappardelle with tiger prawns, bouillabaisse and Angus steaks, with Sonoma and Napa wines and a cocktail bar that fills at happy hour. Weekends add brunch.

Sonoma Grille sits on West Napa Street, a short walk west of the Plaza, a locals' room built around seafood, steak and an easy California-Italian sensibility. Owner Nima Sherpa took over the lease in 2014 and opened in late December 2015, after an improbable path: a native of Nepal, he assisted on dozens of high-altitude treks on Mount Everest before settling in the region in 1998. He also co-owns Himalayan Sherpa Kitchen in St. Helena, but kept the Sonoma menu firmly on seafood and steak. The hospitality reflects his story: warm, attentive and personal, the kind of welcome that turns first-time visitors into regulars. Open seven days, with weekend brunch and a daily happy hour, it has become a dependable all-day table for the town in the decade since it opened.

Saul Razo leads the Sonoma Grille kitchen on West Napa Street, where his menu runs from BBQ oysters and tuna tartare to saffron pappardelle with tiger prawns, bouillabaisse and Angus steaks. His cooking favors generous portions and clean, ingredient-forward plates built around seafood, steak and Italian-leaning pastas.
