Chef Ari Weiswasser's second restaurant, after Glen Ellen Star, cooks California-Italian on Highway 12 in Kenwood around an open fire. Dinner starts with morning-baked focaccia and the mozzarella bar, then moves to bucatini cacio e pepe, lobster ravioli, whole roasted fish or tomahawk steak from the plancha. Sonoma and Napa wines and low-proof cocktails pour alongside.

Stella opened in March 2025 at 9049 Sonoma Highway in Kenwood. It is the second restaurant from chef Ari Weiswasser and his team, following Glen Ellen Star one town over, and it keeps that room's open-kitchen spirit with about three times the space. Weiswasser describes the idea as open-fire cooking meets fine dining, and a gleaming Argentine-style grill and plancha sit at the center of the kitchen. Managing partner Spencer Waite runs operations, and around 15 percent of the produce comes from nearby Glentucky Farm, grown by Mike Benziger, father of Weiswasser's wife, Erinn Benziger, who also works with the restaurants. Still a young kitchen, it is already finding its following along Highway 12, a dining room with family roots and a confident Italian point of view.

Ari Weiswasser, a James Beard Award semifinalist who cooked at The French Laundry, opened Stella in 2025 as the sister to Glen Ellen Star, his Michelin Bib Gourmand restaurant one town over. His California-Italian cooking centers on house-made regional pastas and wood-fired meats.

Bryant Minuche moved to Stella from Glen Ellen Star, where he held the same role, to lead the Kenwood kitchen day to day from its 2025 opening. He brings experience from Eleven Madison Park and Le Bernardin in New York, and his hand shows in the restaurant's precise, regionally rooted Italian plates.
