Wine Focus
Curated wine bar and bottle shop selection focused on organic, biodynamic, regenerative, and traditional practices.

Valley Bar and Bottle opened in July 2020 at 487 First Street West, on the west side of the Sonoma Plaza, in the building that for thirteen years held the Harvest Moon Café. Its four founding partners, chefs Emma Lipp and Stephanie Reagor with Lauren Feldman and Tanner Walle, came from Scribe Winery, and they built Valley as a hybrid: a restaurant with a serious bottle program attached, opened in a difficult season with a promise to make guests and staff alike feel at ease. Lipp and Reagor still lead the kitchen, and the wines favor organic, biodynamic, regenerative and traditional farming, from Europe, Australia and close to home. Michelin names Valley a Bib Gourmand, listing it again in the 2026 California selection, and in 2026 its chefs were James Beard Award semifinalists. Diners do make the trip to the Plaza for it.

The menu changes weekly and is written to be shared, so it pays to order a few plates for the table and let the wine lead. Early menus set the tone with Basque anchovies, razor clams, mussels, chorizo with slaw, succotash and a roast half chicken, and that mix of tinned-fish bar snacks and simple, confident cooking continues. Daytime hours bring a lighter menu, and in the evening the room settles into the feel of a neighborhood bistro. The by-the-glass list rotates often, and the Bottle Club sends members home with boxes of three or six wines chosen by the team. Book through Tock for dinner, or try for a walk-in seat at the bar. Mind the schedule: Valley is closed on Tuesdays and Wednesdays and opens morning and evening the rest of the week.
