Wit & Wisdom is chef Michael Mina's wood-fired tavern at The Lodge at Sonoma Resort, on Broadway a short drive from the Plaza. A contemporary room centers on an open wood-fired kitchen, with a menu built for sharing: blistered pizzas, a seafood boil, prime ribeye, and a starter of duck wings. Cocktails are a strength.

Wit & Wisdom opened on September 14, 2020, inside The Lodge at Sonoma Resort, an Autograph Collection hotel at 1325 Broadway, a short drive south of the Plaza. It is the Sonoma tavern of chef Michael Mina, whose restaurant group operates across the country, and it took over the space formerly occupied by Carneros Bistro after a redesign by Wilson Ishihara. The opening came in a difficult year, with outdoor dining and takeout the only options at first, and the restaurant's new patio carried it through those early months. Since then it has settled into its intended role as a wine-country tavern built around wood-fired cooking, local ingredients and California wines, drawing hotel guests and Sonoma residents alike to a room that feels polished but relaxed, with an open kitchen at its center.

Michael Mina trained at the Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park and became executive chef of Aqua in San Francisco before founding the MINA Group, which now operates more than 40 restaurants. Wit & Wisdom at The Lodge at Sonoma Resort is his first venture into wine country dining, a tavern built around wood-fired cooking.

Fungai Muzunze took charge of The Lodge at Sonoma in December 2023, overseeing the resort's food and beverage, guest experience, sales and marketing, Wit & Wisdom included. He began at Meikles Hotel in Zimbabwe, trained as a sommelier in France and Italy while at The Ritz-Carlton, Doha, and led Hotel Emblem in San Francisco through its reopening.
