Founded in 2001 and transformed under owners Allan and Mei Warburg after 2011, Donum has become one of the most distinctive wine destinations in California — a 200-acre Carneros estate that functions simultaneously as a Regenerative Organic Certified working farm, a single-vineyard Pinot Noir and Chardonnay specialist, and one of the largest accessible private sculpture collections in the world. More than 60 monumental artworks by Ai Weiwei, Louise Bourgeois, Yayoi Kusama, Keith Haring, Fernando Botero, Doug Aitken, and dozens of others are placed throughout the vineyards, many of them site-specific commissions. Wines are farmed to low yields, aged in the best French oak, and built with real depth and precision.

Carneros Estate Pinot Noir, Carneros — The flagship: a deep, structured single-appellation Pinot Noir from the Home Ranch's oldest plantings; cherry-cranberry fruit, black tea and rose petal.

West Slope Pinot Noir, Carneros — A distinct block-designate estate Pinot Noir from the ranch's western slope.

Single Vineyard Chardonnay, Carneros — A taut, mineral estate Chardonnay aged in a restrained share of French oak; lemon, orchard fruit and baking spice.

Rosé of Pinot Noir, Carneros — A light, refreshing dry rosé from estate Pinot Noir.

Founded in 2001 by Anne Moller-Racke and owned since 2010 by Allan and Mei Warburg, The Donum Estate is a Carneros leader in single-vineyard, single-appellation Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, farmed Regenerative Organic Certified. Winemaker Dan Fishman also draws on estate sites in the Russian River Valley and Anderson Valley; the grounds hold one of the world's largest accessible private sculpture collections.

Visits are structured around the intersection of wine, art, and landscape. The 60-minute Tasting Lounge experience is the most accessible ($95 per person) — Pinot Noir and Chardonnay flights in a relaxed setting. Semi-private guided tours of the culinary gardens and select sculpture highlights extend to 60–90 minutes. The full Estate Experience is a two-hour private all-terrain vehicle tour that covers the complete art collection, working farm, and vineyards, finishing with a seated tasting paired with estate-sourced canapés. Art-only self-guided walking tours are also available ($50 per person, 21+). Wines draw from Estate vineyards across Carneros, Russian River Valley, Anderson Valley, and Bodega Bay. Adults only, no pets, reservations required 48 hours in advance.

Dan Fishman
VP, Vineyards & Winemaking

Dan Fishman leads vineyards and winemaking at The Donum Estate, the Carneros home of acclaimed single-vineyard Pinot Noir and Chardonnay whose name means 'gift' — wine as a gift from the land. A Toronto native who caught the wine bug in a college course, he joined Donum as a cellar hand in 2007 and was named winemaker in 2012. Across estate-owned vineyards in Carneros, Russian River Valley, and Anderson Valley — all certified organic and regenerative, farmed with native yeast, sheep, and minimal intervention — Fishman crafts more than thirty small-lot, single-vineyard wines of energy and precision. The 200-acre Sonoma estate is equally renowned for the Donum Collection, its monumental outdoor sculpture park.

Anne Moller-Racke
Founder

Anne Moller-Racke founded The Donum Estate, drawing on decades spent farming the same Carneros ground. Born in Germany, she came to Sonoma in the early 1980s with the Racke family’s acquisition of Buena Vista and devoted herself to its vineyards, eventually leading a group to acquire the prized Carneros estate and establish Donum in 2001. She took the name from the Latin for ‘gift of the land,’ a philosophy of expressing single-vineyard Pinot Noir through meticulous, low-yield farming. Under her long stewardship Donum became renowned for both its estate wines and an extraordinary open-air sculpture collection set among the vines.
