The Dutton family has been farming Sonoma County since the late 1800s — fifth generation Joe Dutton and fourth generation Tracy Dutton (née Kozlowski) founded Dutton Estate Winery in 1995 to bottle what their family had been growing for some of California's most prestigious wineries for decades. Today Joe and Tracy farm over 1,400 acres of premium wine grapes and California Certified Organic apples across Russian River Valley, Green Valley, and Sonoma Coast — fruit highly sought after by Sonoma's most respected producers. Dutton Estate is now led by the sixth generation: sisters Kyndall, Kylie, and Karmen Dutton. Kyndall serves as winemaker, with sister Kylie as VP of Winemaking Operations and sister Karmen also contributing to operations. The portfolio focuses on small-lot, vineyard-designated Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Syrah, and Sauvignon Blanc that showcases Green Valley's Goldridge sandy loam character.

Karmen Isabella Pinot Noir, Russian River Valley — A signature estate Pinot named for a family member, silky and bright from cool Green Valley fruit.

Estate Chardonnay, Russian River Valley — From the Sebastopol Vineyard surrounding the winery; balanced and site-driven.

Cherry Ridge Syrah, Russian River Valley — From a sunny, maritime-influenced estate block; a balanced, cool-climate Syrah.

Sauvignon Blanc, Russian River Valley — Bright and aromatic, a small-lot estate white.

Vermentino, Russian River Valley — A crisp, refreshing Mediterranean white rounding out the lineup.

Joe and Tracy Dutton founded Dutton Estate in 1995, drawing on the renowned Dutton Ranch — over 1,300 acres farmed by the family across Green Valley, Russian River Valley and the Sonoma Coast. The estate specializes in vineyard-designated Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Syrah and Sauvignon Blanc.

The tasting room on Green Valley Road sits atop a rolling Chardonnay vineyard, with a vineyard garden and 20 acres of estate vines encircling the Spanish-style winery. The Dutton family farms 1,400+ acres of wine grapes and organic apples across Russian River Valley, Green Valley, and Sonoma Coast, with some of the county's most sought-after grower contracts. The cellar produces small-lot, vineyard-designated wines through two parallel programs: Dutton Estate Winery (~3,500 cases of Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Syrah, Sauvignon Blanc) and Sebastopol Vineyards (~1,000 cases of Chardonnay and Syrah from Russian River Valley). Tasting experiences include a Garden Flight, Red Wine and Chocolate Pairing, Cheese and Charcuterie Pairing, and private Grape to Glass winery tours.

Winemaker

Sixth-generation Sonoma County farmer and winemaker at Dutton Estate Winery, the small-production family label founded by her parents Joe and Tracy Dutton in 1995. The Dutton family has been farming in Sonoma County since the 1880s; Dutton Ranch, the family's appraised farming operation, expanded into Russian River Valley apple and grape growing in 1964 under Kyndall's grandparents Gail and Warren Dutton. Today she and her sisters Kylie (VP Winemaking Operations) and Karmen lead the next-generation transition while their parents continue managing Dutton Ranch's 1,200 acres of premium wine grapes and 200 acres of California Certified Organic apples. Kyndall focuses on small-lot, vineyard-designated bottlings from the family's most distinctive blocks — Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Syrah, and Sauvignon Blanc — that showcase Green Valley's Goldridge sandy loam character. The winery operates two parallel programs: Dutton Estate Winery (~3,500 cases) and Sebastopol Vineyards (~1,000 cases). Mat Gustafson made the wines from 2001 to 2009 before departing for his own Paul Mathew Vineyards; the program has since transitioned to the sisters and the next-generation cellar team.

Founders

Joe and Tracy Dutton founded Dutton Estate Winery, rooted in generations of Sonoma County farming. Joe is a fifth-generation Sonoma farmer of the renowned Dutton Ranch family, which began growing apples and grapes in the Russian River Valley in the 1960s; Tracy is a fourth-generation farmer whose family ran the storied Kozlowski Farms. From their Green Valley base near Sebastopol, the Duttons built an estate winery now carried forward by the sixth generation — their daughters, including winemaker Kyndall Dutton — with a steadfast commitment to their agricultural legacy.
