Mazzocco Winery occupies one of the most distinctive locations in upper Dry Creek Valley, perched on a saddle in the rolling hills between the Dry Creek and Alexander Valleys, surrounded by the Zinfandel vines that have defined the property for decades. Ken and Diane Wilson (the founders of Wilson Artisan Wineries, a family of eleven wineries across Sonoma and Mendocino counties) purchased Mazzocco in 2005, eager to add its mature Zinfandel block to their growing collection of small-production Sonoma wineries. The Wilsons had already made a name producing Dry Creek Zinfandel at their flagship Wilson Winery; Mazzocco gave them a second platform dedicated to single-vineyard-designate bottlings.

Today Mazzocco is widely considered the premier Zinfandel house of Dry Creek Valley. Winemaker Antoine Favero bottles a long list of single-vineyard-designate Zinfandels each vintage, drawing from sites ranging from loamy valley floors to rugged benchlands to remote mountain vineyards at elevations up to 2,400 feet: Reserve Rockpile, Reserve Sullivan, Reserve Smith Orchard, Reserve Maple, Reserve Serracino, and Reserve Monte Rosso among them, with Robert Parker scores consistently in the 90 to 93 point range. The lineup extends to single-vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon, Petite Sirah, Chardonnay, and Sauvignon Blanc; Mazzocco's tasting room has been the consolidated production hub for sister winery Soda Rock since the 2019 Kincade Fire. The Wilsons farm sustainably, with water conservation, organic practices, and raptor-based pest control across all their vineyards. Tasting room open daily; the Passport to Dry Creek Valley weekend each spring is the marquee event.
