Highway 12 takes its name from the road locals call California's "wine highway," and its tasting room, a literal red barn tucked off the Plaza between Vine Alley and Broadway, leans all the way into that easygoing spirit. Longtime friends Paul Giusto and Michael Sebastiani founded the label in 2004 as Sonoma's down-to-earth "home town winery."
Pour through Highway 12 and Highwayman bottlings (a Sonoma red blend, Trailblazer, Proprietary Red, Zinfandel, and more) sourced from Sonoma, Napa, and the Sierra Foothills through decades of grower relationships. The vibe is roadhouse-casual: $20 flights, chill tunes, dog-friendly, with cozy indoor and tented patio seating. "Clean jeans" required.

Paul Giusto worked at Viansa in Sonoma before joining forces with longtime friend Michael Sebastiani in 2004 to start their own wine company. Together they make Highway 12 and Highwayman, down-to-earth wines from grower relationships along the road that links Russian River Valley, Sonoma Valley, Carneros and Napa, and pour them in a red barn off the Plaza.

Michael Sebastiani has worked in vineyards since he was a boy and began working with Paul Giusto in his twenties at Viansa. In 2004 the friends launched their own company, now Highway 12 Winery, with a plainspoken view of wine as part of everyday life, where clean jeans are dressy enough. The two describe themselves as stewards of the growing regions along Highway 12.
