Susie Selby founded the winery in 1994 with her father, David; when he died in 1997 she carried it alone. For years she deflected distributor pressure by invoking a tough general manager named Bob — who was, in fact, her cat. It remains 100% owned and operated by Susie.
Selby wines have poured at the White House across four administrations, Democrat and Republican, since 1995 — yet the room itself stays unpretentious, with a patio and a warm welcome.
