Founded in 2019 by husband-and-wife T.J. and Francesca Elam, Stonemason takes its name and ethos from T.J.'s great-great-grandfather, a stonemason whose craftsmanship still shapes the family's approach. French-born winemaker Maxime "Max" Gautier (Brittany-raised, trained in Angers, with vineyard time from the Loire to Provence) guides the cellar. The contemporary tasting room sits in Santa Rosa's historic Railroad Square, warm, laid-back, and walkable to restaurants, hotels, and transit.
The signature is a $30 seated flight of five small-lot wines (some made in as few as four barrels), each paired with a thoughtful bite: chocolate-covered blueberries with the HammerTime red blend, caviar with the Cobblestone Cuvée sparkling. Beyond the reds are a tropical "Elevate" Sauvignon Blanc–Viognier blend and a Provence-style Russian River Valley Rosé, with fruit sourced across Russian River, Alexander, and Sonoma Valley. Buy three bottles and a tasting fee is waived. Walk-ins welcome; groups by reservation.
Founder & Winemaker
A Sonoma State business grad with an MBA in Wine Business, T.J. (Timothy) worked harvests from the Russian River Valley to Australia's Barossa Valley before founding Stonemason in 2019, named for his great-great-grandfather, a stonemason.
Co-Founder
Stonemason's co-founder, Francesca was raised in Wine Country and moved from a career in education into marketing and wine education. She runs the winery's wine club and marketing.
