Wildflower is a cheerful wine-country home in Boyes Hot Springs, steps from the Sonoma Golf Club, with mountain views and a big grassy yard. The neighborhood has welcomed visitors for a very long time. Native peoples bathed in its mineral springs for generations, and in 1895 a British captain, Henry E. Boyes, drilled a well that struck 112-degree water, then built a hotel that drew San Franciscans up by boat and train. After a fire in 1923, the Sonoma Mission Inn rose on the same site. The golf club next door opened in 1926 as the Valley of the Moon Golf and Country Club, laid out by Sam Whiting, a Berkeley literature professor turned golf pro. Today it is open to members and to guests of the Fairmont Sonoma Mission Inn.

The house is built for being outside. Indoors, bright living and dining rooms open through large windows and doors, so light pours in from several sides, and the kitchen has modern appliances. Three bedrooms with three baths sleep eight: a king primary, a queen room and a room with two twins, plus tri-fold mattresses for two more. The real living room is the yard. A summer kitchen and barbecue handle dinner, the pool and hot tub take the afternoon, and the lawn is set up for bocce and cornhole, with a garden and a firepit lounge for the evening. Sonoma Plaza, The Girl & The Fig and the wineries of the valley, from Gundlach Bundschu to B.R. Cohn, are a short drive away.
