Passaggio is winemaker Cindy Cosco's homage to her Italian grandfather, who learned wine in his basement and whose Ellis Island passage gives the label its name ("passageway"). A former law-enforcement officer, Cosco studied enology, worked harvests, and launched Passaggio in 2007 with a single unoaked Chardonnay, still a flagship today.
In 2022 she reopened in Glen Ellen's historic Jack London Village, a creekside wine bar and music venue under mature trees where Ashbury Creek meets Sonoma Creek. The pours stay small-lot and food-friendly: the flagship unoaked Chardonnay alongside Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Grigio, Grenache, and Pinot Noir, old-world varietals like Aglianico, Teroldego, and Nebbiolo, plus "whites from reds," rosé, and sparkling, with guest pours from a few other small producers. Live music plays most weekends, and there's a big outdoor deck.

Cindy Cosco named Passaggio for the Italian word for passageway, a nod to the grandfather who came from Italy and first taught her about wine. She launched the label in 2007 with a single unoaked Chardonnay and has since added whites, rosés, reds and sparkling, all small lots meant for the table. Her creekside wine bar sits in Jack London Village.
